Pete by J. Brian
One doesn't usually think of J. Brian in terms of photographic excellence,
but this photo of Pete Shea does rise to well above average. I really
like the way the light surrounds the torso like a sort of halo.
The clever lighting in this shot only adds to the impromptu quality of the photograph. We're used to the idea of photographers just clicking away to choose at development the best shot caught. I get that impression with this one. It's so full of natural movement. It has always been a favourite of mine.

ReplyDeleteI have to wonder if there was an element of accident in this photo's excellence. Brian wasn't exactly a leading art photographer.
