Modern romance

These two seem to be getting chummy while enjoying some high end sound equipment.

  1. The Passions had a hit in the UK in 1981 with "I'm in Love with a German Film Star". I am sure this is not the same record, but a great photo.

    1. Different band. This one was an American Doo-Wop group popular in the late 50s and early 60s. Interesting tidbit: The font used for the band's name on the cover (or a similar one) was also used occasionally on the "The Outer Limits" tv show.

  3. The Passions - a 1954 Les Baxter "mood music" album, one in a series of stylized albums he made during that period - one of the tracks was infamous at the time as supposedly having the singer simulate an orgasm (or maybe it was real???) - singer Bas Sheva was touted as similar in style to Yma Sumac who was quite popular at the time - Martin Denny and several others were popular with the so-called "exotica" music about the same time - Les Baxter was a very prolific arranger/conductor who did many albums with popular singers of the day as well as his own orchestra albums - then rock came along and this stuff was all history

    1. Hmmm . . . seems like a lot of different sorts of passion going on around then. I never heard of Les Baxter until today.
