Halloween 2021

Yes, friends, it's Halloween, and your old blogger has some treats and tricks for you.

We start with a 1970s piece that was meant to be artistic (read the right margin), 

but looks for all the world like a Halloween outfit to me.

 

Trick or Treat

This is from an AMG Halloween production, but I can't remember the name (probably some 

catchy take on "Trick or Treat") or whether it was a movie or a themed still series.  I do, 

however, remember the gag line, which was the old switch Ex Lax for chocolate routine. 

Hopefully, James IV will enlighten us shortly as to the title and medium.

 

Roman

The costuming here is minimal, but not as minimal as the picture which follows.

Rome was neither built nor torn down in a day.

 

No costumes, but still scary

This one doesn't have any costumes, but I get a definite Halloween feel from it.

What a scene!  Whiskey will do that to you.

 

Proto-Kovert?

This reminds me of some of Freddie Kovert's movie costumes, but they would never have used one like this.  Leaves me wondering if this is a very early Kovert produced photo.

 

Have to be gay

I have no idea what's actually going on here, but these three simply had to have been gay.

 

Little Devil

Last Halloween I posted a different pose of this guy from the same session.

Albert will probably like this version better.

 

Moravian

While it may look like a Halloween costume, this is actually a 19th Century Moravian folk outfit.  Did Moravians really walk around looking like that in the late 1800s?  The beard is quite nice.

 

Mummy and three leather men

The Mummy here is wearing a cock ring, and the trio next to him is an interesting arrangement.

 

I'm sending you to the corn field

This picture was made shortly before people started getting sent to the corn field, and the photographer was the first to go.  Yes, I know this photo is totally inappropriate for this blog, but I had to do it.

 

Military Men

Today's theme is military men.  Although it's not obvious that these are soldiers, I got this image off a well regarded military history website.  These guys were apparently having a swim.

 

Bath walk

This German soldier seems to be walking toward a spot to get a bath while his buddy gets undressed.  I hope there's more water somewhere other than in what appears to be a ditch at upper right.

 

North Africa?

The barren landscape and the use of jerry cans makes me think this is North Africa, 

but the haircuts make me think this was later than that.

 

Solo

A considerable majority of my vintage military nude photos are of groups.

Here we have a relatively rare solo . . . and he's grinning.

 

Creek

These WWII German troops are having a washup in a creek,

and several of them just spotted the cameraman.

 

German Day, Part 1 - Five German American Models by Five Photographers

A couple of weeks ago, I featured Italians, and today it's Germans in a double feature.  Part one consists of five German-American models by five of my favorite photographers.  We start with blonde Al Wilisch by Pat Milo.  There's a hint of a shadow there for Big Dude.

 

Art

Art Ullrich has a coy look in this Bruce of LA photo,

but those low hangers steal the show as usual.

 

Lawrence

Al Urban took this classic photo of Lawrence Langnecker with a staff.

 

Gene

Bob Mizer of AMG took this photo of Gene Eberle on a mountaintop.

It resembles in style some of the art in part two of todays double feature.

 

Ed

Dave Martin took this impressively composed photo of Ed Siemens.

The pattern in the tree trunk adds an amazing extra element.

 

German Day, Part 2 - Sascha Schneider's Art

Sascha Schneider, shown here in his studio with a number of male nude works, was a master of homoerotic art in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.  Click on the label or google him for some biographical details.  Today's art series features five of his pieces.

 

Foreboding

Much of Sascha Schneider's work had both mystical and foreboding themes.  The translation of the title for this work is "Feeling of Dependency."  I might have gone with "Feeling of Being about to be Overwhelmed."  Or maybe eaten.  Oh, well. He painted it, and he got to name it.

 

Study

This appears to be a study for one of Schneider's larger works.

It shows an excellent representation of the male form.

 

Warrior

 

Schneider used red tones effectively in "The Warrior."

Winnetou Illustration

Karl May did a whole series of Native American themed German language novels called Winnetou.

Sascha Schneider illustrated them, and this is a mystically themed example.  Note the feather.

 

Classical

This 1913 Sascha Schneider drawing is called "The Victor" 

and follows one of his typical Classical Greek motifs.

 

Horses (and their riders) with no name

Today's theme is men with horses about whom I know nothing.  No names for 

the models, the photographers, or the horse for that matter.  I was tempted to remove

 the yellowing from this one, but I decided to just leave it as it is.

 

Pair

This duo looks like they might be from a Wyngate and Bevins "nudist" magazine.

Albert the Gay Belgian will no doubt find the guy at right to be a treat.

 

Great model

While I might wish for a better view of the horse,

I have no complaints about the model or his pose.

 

Mounting or dismounting?

This high quality photo is probably by an excellent photographer, but I have no attribution.  I can't tell if the model is going up or down, but the horse is happily munching away in the meantime.

 

Playgirl?

This has all the hallmarks of a Playgirl piece, but I have no proof.

One of you aficionados might be able to confirm.  The model looks familiar, fwiw.

 

Contrasting Bruce of LA Models, Part 1 - Black Hawk

Bruce of LA used an amazing array of models, and today I'm doing a double feature on two who are quite a contrast to one another.  These are the dark and lithe Black Hawk and the blonde and built Bud Counts.  We start with Black Hawk whose name and looks imply Native American heritage.  I have not, however, been able to find any documentation of such.  If anybody knows, please hit the comment button below.  Here he takes a graceful, almost dancer's, approach to a rope.

 

Boots

Here we see Black Hawk in cowboy boots, but no hat.  Later, we'll see him in just the hat.

 

Impossible

I don't know why Bruce bothered with the posing strap in this one as we probably wouldn't have seen anything anyway.  Black Hawk makes it look almost easy.

Black Hawk's graceful positioning of his limbs and even 

his feet comes through even in this seated pose.

 

Cowboy

Black Hawk did a cowboy themed photo shoot for Bruce that left me wanting more.

 

Perfect Specimen

This photo of Black Hawk appeared on a long defunct tumblr blog called "Perfect Specimens."

 

Contrasting Bruce of LA Models, Part 2 - Bud Counts

I've done so many posts on Bud Counts that he has his own label on the list, and I haven't run out of material yet.  Today's second feature has some of his "blonde and built" work for Bruce.  This picture was made during a trip Bruce took to Mexico with some models.  That must have been fun.

 

Pin-up Style

Here we see Bud Counts against the corrugated backdrop that Bruce used often.

He looks like he might be doing sit-ups, but isn't very convincing.

 

Stamped and numbered

Bud Counts appears against this same rock later in today's series in a different pose.  

This version is interesting because it fetched over $700 in an on-line auction, 

probably because it has Bruce's original stamp and catalog number.

 

Chains

Here's another shot of the preceding backdrop.  Believe it or not, the corrugated panels were painted a lurid red at one time.  I have a couple of color images to prove it.

 

On the rocks again

Based on a quick survey of my Bud Counts files, I'd say he spent a good bit of time on, around, and against rocks in the desert.  Bruce of LA seems to have liked such settings.

 

Lanky nudists, all in color

Today we'll enjoy some lanky nudists in a rare all color series.

We start with a guy they must have called "Stretch."

 

Seated

Although his seated position does not accentuate his longitudinal virtues,

we still get quite a lanky impressing from this big bump on a log.

 

Kite flyer

This guy with a kite has a long and lean look.

 

Legs

This guy shows us a nice derriere alongside the agave plants.

 

Barely qualifies

This guy on a rock barely qualifies as lanky, 

but maybe no one will complain.

 

Werner Bandi, mostly without Bob Steffan

If you click on the label below this photo, you'll see some other posts which describe the relationship between Werner Bandi and his favorite model, Bob Steffan.  Today we'll look at some Bandi photos, only one (or two) of which feature Bob.  I don't know if the young man in this photo is Bob or not, but his skimpy swimsuit looks more like a posing strap.  That's Werner second from left.

 

Auf der Bergwiese

The title for this Bandi photo translates as "On the Mountain Meadow."

I don't think this is Bob Steffan, but I do know the shadows will impress B.D.
