George Platt Lynes Day, Part 1 - Nudes
Today I'm posting a double feature of George Platt Lynes' work. (Yes, I know it's Boxing Day, but I'm tired of that shtick.) We start with Joe Santoro and a Jared French painting.
What a delightful Christmas (well, Boxing Day) present for us Jerry. I think George Platt Lynes is my favourite photographer that you've featured. His work is sheer class and he photographed some great looking models too. As I'm still waiting patiently for the Lynes biography to be published here in February (hope you're enjoying your copy!) this series will tide me over for a while longer.
The book is HUGE and loaded with details. At first, I thought there was too much minutiae, but now I see the writer is building a great picture of a complex and brilliant man. And yes, Lynes is my favorite, too.
Man, Lines used lighting with expertise and artistry you don't see with anyone else. This shot is a perfect example, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteLynes was a genius.

DeleteIMO and I suppose it's purely subjective, but this is my favorite Lynes model and portrait ever! At the risk of infantilizing my comment: Yum!
ReplyDeleteIt is without question one of Lynes' best . . . and delicious.
