Trio Day, Part 1 - Nudes

Trios are the subjects of today's double feature.  Part 1 has some nudes,
starting with this early 20th Century shot that's part of a set.

    1. I've already posted nearly all of them. Click the "trio" label to see the rest.

  2. Jerry, do you have any idea as to the country of origin of this photograph? For various reasons, I seem to think it's in fact British and more specifically, English, and would be interested to know.

    1. I wish I knew, Julian. There was speculation, but no firm knowledge, when I posted a few other photos from this series.

    2. Well, I've had a look at your "Trio" content and identified the photographs in this series. This is the full frontal to complement the "derrière" shot, featuring a Louis XVI table - a hint of which is to the right in this photograph - which led me to believe it might be a French nude study.

For those interested in dating and provenance, there is one very telltale sign that shouts to those in the know. Now, I know that for many, circumcision is a very emotive subject and it is not my intention to provoke, but I think we may all agree just to accept history as a fact and deal with it dispassionately.

For Jews, circumcision is just part of our way of life. We tend not to discuss it, and so it was of very great interest that in a rare conversation with a mohel that I learnt that the British in fact systematically introduced circumcision during the great masturbation hysteria of the mid-19th century under the ludicrous suggestion that circumcision stopped it. From the 1860s onward, those in the upper classes started circumcising their sons. By the 1890s, most of the most of the middle classes had joined them, even though that hysteria was long since passed. The real reason was that at the end of the 19th century Europe, syphilis was endemic and bordering on the epidemic in an age before antibiotics and medical observation had determined that circumcision afforded at least some protection. The emergent medical profession exploited the masturbation myth in response to an adult population that refused to address its own moral shortcomings by labouring the imaginary peccadilloes of its youth who could not answer back.

Everything at this point in Britain was dependent on the class system. Class being all - Oscar Wilde once quipped when introducing his friend Robbie Ross that he was the "son of the prime minister of Upper Canada, or is it Lower Canada? The British take their class system wherever they go." - even physical differences between the upper and lower classes were immediately visible. As a result of better nutrition, by 1900, the upper classes were 6" to a foot taller than the working classes. One of the motivations for Robert Baden-Powell to establish the Scout Movement was because the ruling elites were desperately worried that the fitness of the population would threaten their effectiveness to fight if war came. By the time of the Second World War, something in the order of 50 per cent of the population was circumcised - a figure way in advance of America at that time - and a statistic that was exceeded in the dominions of the Old Commonwealth.

The introduction of socialized medicine in 1948 with the founding of the National Health Service more or less ended the practice.

So, in the above photograph, we clearly have well-fed men, engaging in typical gymnasium nudity, sporting the hairstyles of the upper-classes, two of whom are circumcised. The circumcision is the clincher, leading me to identify the photograph as English.

    3. I found only two other photos of this group: one from behind, and the other with fake-fig cover. So only this one is full frontal. One of these three is in deep shadows. And the middle penis looks foreskin intact, if more than a guess were possible. Only the left penis looks uncovered, but uncovered doesn’t always mean circumcised. So that’s my version of foreskin sleuthing.

  4. I do love the extremely lean look of them all, but especially the man in the middle. His wiener is just fine for me.

  5. Always lovely to see these again. Based on seeing the whole set, I'd go with French. I was modelling in a male trio on Wednesday...

  6. Il y a des hommes qui ne sont pas gâtés par la nature... Mon dieu, l'homme du milieu à une bite comme sur les statues d'angelots de la renaissance...

There are men who are not spoiled by nature... My god, the man in the middle with a dick like on the statues of cherubs of the renaissance...
