Mystery
I don't know what team or year this was, but the guy with the metal dipper is happy.
Close, but no cigar. The photo is part of the LIFE photo archive, in a series called "University of Md. Vs. Navy (Lacrosse), taken in April 1952 by photographer Mark Kauffman or Hank Walker (both are credited for the series). See https://images.google.com/hosted/life/593e2eca723c28f3.html
Could the dipper have been used for pouring water on the rocks in a sauna?
ReplyDeleteSure, but they don't seem to be in a sauna. It might have been an unhygienic communal drinking dipper.
DeleteThe pic was taken after a University of Virginia lacrosse match in March 1952. UVA won.
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks!
