George Wilson

I initially thought this piece from the National Gallery of Scotland was too modern for this blog.
I soon found out, however, that it is from about 1875.  The artist was George Wilson.

  1. Wilson was an artist’s artist who just loved to paint. Sadly died at 41, just at the peak of his career.
Fine art collections the Scots have in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
My favorites are their National Gallery, Royal Scottish Academy and the Kings Gallery in Auld Reekie, as they call Edinburgh. And the Kelvingrove Museum, Hunterian Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow. And of course Fairfield Heritage, dedicated to the great Scottish art of shipbuilding :)
