Bob Delmonteque
Bob Delmonteque took this picture of Kip Behar in the
window of a ruin in Los Angeles called The Castle.
It's an interesting location that I have never been able to find anything about. I would think more then a few photos were taken but this is the only one I've ever seen.
While I've seen other physique photos shot in a similar setting, I'm not sure if it's Gracie Fields' place, the one mentioned below, or somewhere else. There are a surprising number of ruined mansions in and around LA.
We saw the Vincente Minnelli mansion a number of years ago that had fallen into disrepair and was inhabited by squatters. Shocking to see since it was across the street from The Beverly Hills Hotel.
Just came across this. I'm guessing this photo of Kip was shot early 1960's? How long this structure stood is anyone's guess. Could this be the location?
Looks like the never finished Hollywood house of Gracie Fields. I always assumed it was an abandoned homestead out in the Mojave Desert. The location has been used in photos of other physique models and by other photographers. Mizer used to photograph models at mansions being torn down in Hollywood from rezoning ordinances and freeway construction through eminent domain….:)
I live in LA, and I've never heard of The Castle (though i was probably Negative 12 yrs old when this was shot).
ReplyDeleteI tried to look it up, but Google failed me . . . again.
