Gustav Klimt

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) was an Austrian artist who was admitted to Vienna's Kunstgewerbeschule academy at the remarkably young age of 14.  He is best known for The Kiss (shown above at left) and other groundbreaking works he did from about 1890 onward.  For our purposes, however,
we will be looking at his early academic nudes and a study of a satyr.

  1. Many thanks, Jerry, for posting these. Some of his academic works, I knew, but so many more inspiring works here. Also interesingly varied in style. Alas when visiting Vienna, I didn't have time to see "The Kiss".
