Arnim Meier is shown above in a scene from 1978's Germany in Autumn. Better known for his other films which were directed by his love Rainer Werner Fassbinder, he killed himself
in Fassbinder's apartmen after the couple broke up in 1978. What a waste!
Fassbinder was a incredible director, Querelle being one of my favourite films. But not as a person. I've read a detailed account on their relationship that is quite harrowing. This poor man was practically illiterate and treated as no one should be. It's tragic.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what I've read about Fassbinder's personal life has not been flattering. He had abusive and expoitative relationships with both men and women, making him an equal opportunity creep. He did, however, create some amazing films.
