Ralph Kelly Day
I don't have a large collection of Ralph Kelly's work, but thanks to some recent finds,
I have enough unposted work for a full set. We start with Keith Stephan.
In this particular shot Ralph Kelly was to beefcake what Bunny Yeager was to cheesecake. Both knew how to frame and bring out the beauty in their models. And with someone like Keith that would be so easy!
I have that picture if it's the one where his right hand is raised, and my source also says Milo. In addition, I have several others from what was apparently the same session, some labeled Kelly and some unattributed. It's hard to know when publishing the original work was against the law. I've been proven wrong many, many times.
Bodybuilder Keith Stephan competed at Mr America in 1951 and came in 6th. A popular physique model, Stephan also posed for Bellas, Mizer, Frisby and Spartan. Mizer hinted he was rough trade and into the leather scene, and Richard Harrison said Stephan was mentally unstable, when Stephan tried to throw him off the roof of a building !…:\
Well! A big beefy specimen to start off the day!-Dee Exx

ReplyDeleteA VERY handsome man. The right arm may be too dark but what a shadow...

ReplyDeleteMr. Stephan never failed to please.
DeleteThat, er, shadow...
ReplyDeleteI have a similar photo with KS by the wall, no steps. It's labeled as by Milo. I don't know.

Sometimes there was a ruffian or psychotic behind those models' rugged good looks.
