Professor Edmond Desbonnet Day

We haven't had a series of Professor Edmond Desbonnet's work for a while now, so why not today?
We begin with the good professor fully clothed above and in a fig leaf below.  Sadly, he never
seems to have posed frontally nude despite having taken dozens and dozens of such images.

  1. Even clothed, a very fine physique. I assume the fig leaf added for printing? Allows him to publish for a wider market? And what a tache...

    1. When Prof. Desbonnet's photos were published in books and magazines, frontal modesty was the norm. Sometimes the leaves or drapes were original to the work, and sometimes they were added post production.

  2. Desbonnet - un pionnier de la culture physique en France.
Part of the culture of Belle Époque France that flourished after the dreadful and punishing years exacted by the Prussians.

  3. You've just stoked the fire of my fantasies! A handsome photographer shooting hot, muscular Victorian men?? Heaven.
