Characters?
Our closing drawing shows a side view of a man with his hands clasped.
That vertical row of marks at right looks like Japanese characters,
I notice an almost photographic quality to a lot of his drawings, though not so strong as in his paintings. I had had no idea he did males naked. Great post, Jerry. Thank you.

DeleteI have not seen the sketches before. Always interesting to view preparatory works that might eventually become a painting.
ReplyDeleteI've had mixed results trying to link the drawings to the ultimate paintings they went into for various artists.
