Today I'm posting my second full series on the work of Mike Arlen, a British photographer who broke through some barriers in the UK's gay publication scene. His work isn't always to everyone's taste, including my own, but I think it is definitely worth a look. And remember, I'm not even posting his most edgy material. ReplyDeleteBrilliant Jerry. Very much my era. Like you, some not to my taste. Many trips to Soho, to get my, certainly not hard core Zipper mags. I still have a few somewhere. Happy days.. Around 1989, a mate posed for Vulcan magazine. He looked so much sexier in real life. I'd see him nude regularly at a men only swimming group.
ReplyDeleteThanks, David. It doesn't surprise me that the model looked sexier in real life. Just being natural can easily win out over some of the garish posing we've all seen over the years.
