The date, 1881, is easy to read, but not the signature. Anyone?
Google AI comes up with ""В. Салманов" (V. Salmanov)." When I did a search for that name, the only one who comes up is a Russian composer of classical symphonies, but he wasn't even born yet when this sketch was done (he was born in 1912). So either there was another lesser known artist with the same name from the 19th century, or AI doesn't have the name exactly right.
The artist has the musculature perfect.
