New York
This is some bar in New York. Am I the only one flashing of RuPaul?
Yes, Grace Jones, dressed as Nefertiti. Grace made the rounds in a lot of NYC's dance clubs, including Studio 54, Paradise Garage, and others. In this photo, the guys in the background are wearing black t-shirts with a picture of a fly on the front. This was the outfit of the staff at a NYC club called Les Mouches (French for ‘Flies’) So this particular photo is most likely from Les Mouches. Needless to say, Grace was extremely loved and popular, and she may have performed the same act in other venues. Her performance was in honor of a King Tut exhibition at MOMA. Photo by Hans Feurer, 1977.
That's Grace Jones!
ReplyDeleteGrace Jones.
ReplyDeleteStudio 54 Grace Jones
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. The great Ms. Jones.
ReplyDeletePull Up to the Bumper, Baby!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Grace, but I think the venue is Roseland Ballroom. She did a lot of shows there. I actually went to one!
ReplyDeleteI think it is also. Still going strong and performing at 78.
