White Marble
Mr. Sandow looks like a white marble statue in gladiator sandals in this 1894 photo.
I wonder if some artifice, photographic or makeup, was used for the effect?
Regardless, the proportions of his body approach perfection.
I think it's body make up, as his eyebrows and bush are still dark. Amazing, a real man of marble. The usual "How was the fig leaf attached?"...
