Here's another shot of Charlie Day and Bob Allender together.
I love the jockstrap and gym shoes, and the set looks like AMG.
Now, that is a very interesting jockstrap. The leg straps are so far forward they attach at the top seams of the pouch. Recent models have this style - but one has to admit that they are really leisurewear and no longer manufactured for sports. I don't think I have ever seen this style on a jock dating from this period, so I can only assume that it came from one of the smaller manufacturers - by that time Bike and Wilson had more or less cornered the market. Unfortunately, the waist band does not have a logo. The straps on a Bike attached at the top of the leg at the hip. The leg straps o the British Litesome - dubbed the Rolls Royce of British straps - were much further back. The gym shoes would have been called "baseball boots" in Britain. They would have been a rare, imported fashion item. They were not manufactured in Britain and probably not have been allowed in a gym.
This is one of those rare times when I can't pick a favorite, although this photo is quite nice. You've done such a good job with this series that I won't annoy you with "day puns," Jerry. Also, a hearty shout out to Brian E.
The jockstrap IS a nice touch.

ReplyDeleteInteresting. I hadn't even noticed the odd strap placement. Thanks, Julian!
DeleteI like the jockstrap and the shoes, he would have my undivided attention! I would be interested to know what his story was. Anyone know?
