Dipped in oil
Although I find the model well built and attractive,
he looks like he's been dipped in a vat of grease.
In my humble opinion, I think the oil works best in harmony with the pose; for example, in the beautiful picture of the beautiful John Gallagher from a few days ago, he looks like he is in mid-race, and his skin glistens accordingly. Whereas the admittedly cute but somewhat awkwardly seated guy here inevitably and through no fault of his own makes me think of a traditional porcine pastime at a country fair...
Ah, yes. The greased pig contest. Believe me, that thought has crossed my mind more than a few times when posting heavily oiled models. On a positive note, your comment about Mr. Gallagher is spot on.
Despite the oil, it's a great shot. He is handsome and nicely hung, and I like the pose.
ReplyDeleteNever had a problem with a well-lubed and hung man!
DeleteI have to confess, that, I do rather like a well oiled model. But only, as in this case, if it gives a bronze or marble look to the body.
ReplyDeleteIt does do that here.

DeletePS And as so often in such shots, one instinctively pities the furniture and the drapes.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yes, one does.
DeleteI always asume the studios had more than a few grease spots on the dias.
DeleteWell lubed like a ’48 Buick !
ReplyDeleteKo’Vert must have loved basting his models in oil….:)
I do like the photo but I think it would have worked better without the oil. Less is more.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
