Academic Art Day

We haven't had an academic art series for quite a while, so I'll start one with this drawing by Lefevre from 1871.

1881

The date, 1881, is easy to read, but not the signature. Anyone?

Alex Bafcop

I couldn't find a date for this one by Alex Bafcop, but it certainly looks 19th Century.

Ernest Hebert

I really like this one by Ernest Hebert, and I can't exactly say why.

Theodore Krause

Even the cushion is beautifully done in this drawing by Theodore Krause.

Camille Pissarro

It was 1850 when the great Camille Pissarro did this drawing of a hefty man. This is not what one expects, and I'd really like to see mo...

Albert Robida

Albert Robida completed this in 1867.

Unknown

I have neither a name nor a date for this one, which is sad because it's beautifully done.

Theodore Robinson

A model posed as a boxer for Theodore Robinson in 1875.

Christian Schussele

Our closing drawing is by Christian Schussels from 1876.

Thomas T. Baxter

I really like this 1914 painting by Thomas Tennant Baxter.

Edward Wadsworth

It was 1911 when Edward Wadsworth painted this academic work.

Thomas Saunders Nash

The only information I have on this one is that it is 20th Century by Thomas Saunders Nash.

Charles E. Roberts

Charles E. Roberts painted this at age 19 in 1920.

Kate Cowderoy

It was 1905 when Kate Cowderoy painted this one.

Albert Cooper

This one is by Albert Cooper from 1920.

William Herbert Allen

Closing with an 1888 painting by William Herbert Allen. The stocky model is not something one sees every day.
