George Dureau Day
George Dureau was one of the finest artists to ever come out of New Orleans, and it's been
far too long since I featured his work here. We start with Aaron Davis from 1985.
I first became aware of him from the film The Big Easy where he had a small part, a friend told me about his art and photography. I've been a fan ever since.
I lived a few blocks from him for two years, and didn't even know who he was until decades later. I do remember some interesting characters hanging out in that block of Bienville Street, but I have no idea if they were connected to him. "interesting characters" is sort a widespread thing in the French Quarter.
I love NOLA and this is a super interesting set. The music and the food are incredible. Didn’t connect that Dureau was from there, but totally tracks. Awesome theme💕bns

DeleteWow, that close! I know the area, you could park yourself and watch the "interesting characters" all day. No room for boredom there!
DeleteI've heard it called "the world's largest open air insane assylum."
