Good positioning
Whoever took this one knew just how to post the model to best show off the goods.
As for the model, he looks tentative, but warming to the idea of posing nude.
The photo does not "suffer" from the lack of contrast between the model and the background...which does not matter because what we like to see is readily visible
Yes, perched on the edge of a stool, brings the torso up. Wide stance displays an area of interest. He does look a little nervous. Quite a young guy. I presume, recruited as a model from a gym? Or did he see an advert in a muscle magazine? As so many, he's going with the classical ideal that the build male body is best displayed nude.
Bob Mizer was the only physique photographer who really tried to document and share the sources of his models, although we might assume that most of the other photographers used similar methods. In Mizer's case that ranged from gyms to beaches to street corners busy with hustlers. Plus, there was word of mouth among the models (or hustlers in many cases) and referrals among photographers. Some of these guys appeared in the work of as many as four (and possibly more) different known photographers.

DeleteMany thank Jerry.
DeleteNo problem, David.
DeleteThis is Bob Zimmerman. I could send you my collection of 10 other photos of him (2 of which are in colour), if you'd like.
ReplyDeleteYes, I would like the others, and thanks for the ID!
