Swedish Ford Factory Film

Ford had a factory in Sweden in 1948, and they made this film of the men in a sauna and the showers.  Many thanks to Larry K. of https://unashamedmale.blogspot.com/ who sent me this.

Movie via Larry K

Larry K from The Unashamed Male generously sent me a group of well curated short movies
of military men some time ago.  I can do no better for a caption than to cut and paste his notes:
"1950-07-23  #21877 Korean War-Between Pohang Dong and Yongdok-Pvt Bill Dougherty
& Cpl Warren Hoke washing in sea (Holloway)"  Thanks a million, Larry!

1968 Signal Corp Film

Initially, I thought the subject of this 1968 Signal Corps film was the operation of the mortar crew
in the foreground.  It turns out, however, to be more about a guy getting a shower.

Jane Russell's boy toy

John Weidemann hit a lot of peoples' radar when he appeared in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes with Jane Russell in a production number set in a gym full of hunky men wearing flesh colored form fitting trunks.  As you will see, his show business career didn't go very much farther, but he certainly made a splash when Jane's eyes pop early in this clip.  Miss Russell knew that most of the men in the chorus were gay and even commented that they weren't really interested in her, but did a good job anyway.
Whether John was gay or not, I do not know.

Wrestling movie clip

Like quite a few competitive bodybuilders, Bob McCune became a professional wrestler.  He had a successful career between 1950 and 1958.  Oddly, I couldn't find any still photos of him during this period of his life.  We do, however, have this interesting Australian newsreel clip.

This video clip was labeled "1917 - Advance of the Crusaders Into Mesopotamia-Diyala River-British soldiers swimming in the River Narim close to the damaged bridge at Narim Kopris."
I don't think they would use the term "Crusaders" in any modern production.

This U.S. Defense Department archival footage shows World War I inductees.

Joe Tiffenbach, one last bit . . . or better late than never

While preparing today's earlier series on Joe Tiffenbach's life, I was in touch with fellow blogger Tom of a nekkiddays.  He generously offered to share some movie clips made by Mr. Tiffenbach that he had posted.  Due to my own technical limitations and an abortive root canal, I didn't manage to get this movie into the series when I placed it in the queue.  Anyway, here it is now, and here's a link to Tom's collection of Joe Tiffenbach's work at Gymnos Studio:

While there, you all should also check out the rest of his excellent blog.  Thanks, Tom!

Four guys are playing piggyback in this clip from Bob Mizer's 1965 short film "Seven Athletes."

Editor's note:  Larry provided the names of Brian Idol, Jim Horn, Jim Barkley, and Sam Hunter as being in the film, but not necessarily in this clip.  I definitely recognize Brian here.
Added:  See the_cham_cham's comment below for some ID info.
Many thanks to Larry for yet another great guest series!

World War I According (mostly) to Larry K.

Today will be a mix of three movies and two stills from World War I, all but one of which were provided by the always helpful and diligent researcher Larry K.  We start with this film from the CBS archive labeled "GIs taking showers."  Well, Larry and I both know that they were called Doughboys at that time, but somebody at CBS apparently didn't.  Oh, well, it's still a fun clip.

Getting a break from the daily grind of military life, whether at the front or in training, was a real treat.  Here we have some British soldiers running into the sea for a swimming session.  A very few have bathing suits, and a few others have small towels that they use to cover strategic parts, so this is mostly a feast for the Bum Brigade.  I love the guy chasing a dog across the scene in the last half.

This very short 1918film clip shows an American soldier of Company B of the 1st Engineers taking a "French" bath at Catigny, Picardy, France.  He seems quite happy to be making a movie nude.
Many thanks again to Larry K. for providing this and the other movies in today's series.

Larry has been a source of some great film clips, and this one from 1918 is no exception.  It shows an Australian brigade holding a "water carnival" before going into battle on the Somme.  Watch closely and you'll see lots of naked men paddling around, diving, hanging out together, and even staging a drag show near the end.  You may want to go back for a second look because I found I had missed some nice bits the first time I looked at this charming movie.

World War II Soldiers in the Showers, Movies and Stills

Today I am posting a mix of movies and still photos of World War II American soldiers showering.  My fellow Hawaii resident and frequent contributor of quality material, Larry K, provided all three of the movies.  We start with December 31, 1943 at the Roman baths near Gafsa, Tunisia.  I have previously posted still photos from the same location and general time.
