Andrew Kozak Day

Our series today is all Andrew Kozak.  Dave Martin took a lot of good photos of Mr. Kozak, and I believe this one is from a photo shoot at Carmel by the Sea on the California coast.

AMG Solo

As far as I know, Bob Mizer of AMG never took and full frontal nudes of Andy Kozak.
Some collectors say a few of the posing straps are drawn on, but I'm not sure about that.
In any case, no uncovered versions have come to light that I've seen.
Having said all that, Mr. K looks very impressive anyway.

With brother Steve

Bob Mizer of AMG used his mother's crystal punchbowl set to make this picture
of Andy Kozak with his brother Steve.  And before you ask, no I don't have
a shot of Steve without the posing pouch.  Believe me, I've looked and looked.

Cull?

At least one online collector/commentator has said that this photo said to be by
Dave Martin was a cull not meant to be distributed.  I have no clue how they would
know that, and other than the cropping, I can't complain about the quality.

With Bill Holland

I included this photo of Andy Kozak with Bill Holland
mainly because there are so few derriere shots of Mr. K.
I'm fairly certain that this is by AMG.

Reclining

Bob Mizer of AMG posed Andy Kozak on a billowy bed of cotton for this posing strap item.

1954

The lighting of this 1954 photo by Dave Martin is a bit harsh,
but the smile a certain other element make up for it.

With Forrester Millard

I think this wrestling (sort of) shot with Forrester Millard is by AMG.

Kovert of Hollywood

Our final photo of Andy Kozak was beautifully posed and lighted by Freddie Kovert.

Skinny Dippers Day

It's skinny dipper day, and we start with five adult males who seem to be enjoying a kiddie pool.

1930s

The only information that came with this one was that it is from the 1930s.
The reflections of bare (dead?) trees is interesting.

Military

The haircuts tell us these men are probably military, and the scenery
says they were somewhere in the far north of Europe.

Dock

I think these three are about to jump of the dock into the water.

Scenery

These three skinny dippers had some spectacular mountain scenery for their outing.

Mud fun

Fortunately, there's some water nearby for these fellows to wash off the mud.

Pittsburgh

Charles "Teenie" Harris took this photo at the all-Black
Centre Avenue YMCA in Pittsburgh around 1948.

Blurry

Too bad this photo of a mass swim is so blurry.

Suez

These are Australian soldiers swimming in the Suez Canal during World War I.

Wrecked

Our last photo has guys who seem to be dealing with a wrecked floating dock made of oil drums.

Assorted Nudist Day

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Modern Dance

This might have been what passed for modern dance in the 60s.

Privacy, please.

Apparently the nudist camp needed more privacy.
Maybe they had a peeping Tom problem.

Hosing

Artist

This guy seems to be just starting on a piece of art.

Bush and 'Stache

A certain other blogger I know will probably like the up and down elements of this one.

Looking

This guy is looking at some magazines, but I don't
think he'll see much through those sunglasses.
Maybe he's trying to go incognito.

Not basketball

Beach

Closing the series with a nice looking young man on a beach.

Deep in thought

We close with a contemplative looking guy on a picnic set bench.

Mystery Men Day

Is Mystery Man day, and we will be looking at ten unidentified classic era physique models.
We start with a man with a mysterious expression and two knotted ropes behind him.

Screen

The bamboo screen might be a clue, but several physique photographers used them.

Column

The pose and the column make me think of Lon,
but I have nothing but that hunch.

Smile

Damage

The damage makes me think this one might be a Polaroid,
but the professional lighting makes me think not.

Tan Lines

The tan lines draw our eyes where they would have gone anyway.

Lon?

That column and my source both say this unknown might be by Lon of New York.

AMG?

My source says this duo is probably by AMG.

Grapes

Our only color item of the day has a guy eating grapes under a trellis.
Is that Mount Mizer in the background?

Possible Pat Milo

Roy Blakey Day

Today is Roy Blakey day, and we start with a beautifully lighted photo of Richard Christopher.

'Fro

The Afro hairstyle was still going strong when Roy Blakey shot this one in 1973.

Art

This one is art, pure and simple.

Cover

While not in the same league as Mr. Blakey's work for Honcho, Mandate, and
After Dark, this cover for a New York gay magazine does have its charm.

Perspective

The perspective on this image is a bit odd, but I like it.

Fire Island Pines

If you click on the Roy Blakey label at right and scroll back a bit, you'll see a frontal nude
of this model that I posted last year.  Only recently did I learn that it was part of a major
piece in Honcho in 1980.  Today I am posting the rest of the group of photos.

Technique

I have no idea what technique Roy Blakey used to make this, but I like it.

Mystery

The ombre lighting gives this one an air of mystery.
