Academic Art Day

We haven't had an academic art series for quite a while,
so I'll start one with this drawing by Lefevre from 1871.

1881

The date, 1881, is easy to read, but not the signature.  Anyone?

Alex Bafcop

I couldn't find a date for this one by Alex Bafcop,
but it certainly looks 19th Century.

Ernest Hebert

I really like this one by Ernest Hebert, and I can't exactly say why.

Theodore Krause

Even the cushion is beautifully done in this drawing by Theodore Krause.

Camille Pissarro

It was 1850 when the great Camille Pissarro did this drawing of a hefty man.
This is not what one expects, and I'd really like to see more of this model.

Albert Robida

Albert Robida completed this in 1867.

Unknown

I have neither a name nor a date for this one,
which is sad because it's beautifully done.

Theodore Robinson

A model posed as a boxer for Theodore Robinson in 1875.

Christian Schussele

Our closing drawing is by Christian Schussels from 1876.

19th Century Miscellany

Today's series is an assortment of 19th Century photos.  We start with
a handsome fellow whose photographer is unknown, as is he.

Loincloth

I know a few of you viewers who fancy men in loincloths, and this fellow
should fit the bill.  I have to say I'm quite taken with that bulge.

Igout

This one is by Louis Igout.

Gerard Levy, Two Views

I don't know if these two photos are by Gerard Levy or of him.
My source just had the name attached and nothing else.

Bushmaster

I've looked at a lot of photos of naked men over the years,
and this may be the most impressive bush of all.

Charles Eisenmann

Charles Eisenmann took this picture of a carnival strong man in profile.

Muscular Recline

19th Century Day

It's 19th Century day, and let's start with a screen grab I found in my files with no info.

Woe is me.

This photo by Louis Igout features what I call the "woe is me" pose.
