Unknown Artists Day

It's unknown artist day, and we start with a woodcut print dated 1450.

Italian?

For some reason, I want to think this one is Italian or perhaps Spanish.

1812

Here's a second one for which a date was given, 1812.  This might be a study
for a painting because it doesn't look like typical academic work.

20th Century?

This one looks 20th Century, but Google's searchbots came up empty yet again.

Thor

Only the Teutons would have a primary god traveling around in a cart pulled by goats.
Thor's hammer and some lightning bolts are on display.

Expressionist

All my searches turned up on this one was the term "expressionist."

Study

This one was described as a study for a painting.
I'd really love to see the finished work.

Brooding Germans

I can't believe something elaborate as this has no information.  Brooding Germans and vultures just seem to go together, and the caption translates as "And No Bridge Leads from Person to Person."

1880

And we have a third piece with only a date, 1880.

Hazy

Closing with a hazy drawing that I like a lot.

Eric Lesh

This looked vintage, but when I researched it, I found out it is by Eric Lesh,
a currently active artist.  I'm posting it anyway because I like it.
Here's his pretty cool website:  https://www.edldraws.com/eleshshop/prints

Edward Hopper

Edward Hopper (1882-1967) was one of the most highly acclaimed American artists of his time,
and today we will look at some of his male nude sketches, paintings, and studies.  That's a self
portrait above, and below we  have one of his better known works, 1942's Nighthawks.

British Art

Today we will look at some British male nude art, mostly early 20th Century.
We start with a standing nude by Robin Bartlett from 1925.

John Constable

The great John Constable painted this in 1820 as a study for a version of The Last Judgement.

Sketch

Here is an artist's rendering of what the sculptor's models might have looked like.

Thomas Nast

American artist Thomas Nast did this drawing of a man with an imaginary bow.

Louvre

Detail from a Greek ceramic in the Louvre dated 510 BC.
Signed by Epiktetos as painter and by Pamphaios as potter.

Millais

My source says that The Archer by Millais is from 1847.

Hunting Scene

This 1903 hunting scene is Bogenschutzen (Archers) by Fritz Boehle.
