Woe is me.

This photo by Louis Igout features what I call the "woe is me" pose.

Igout I

This is the first of three photos in today's series by Louis Igout.
I posted the frontal view of this same pose last May.

Igout II

Louis Igout never seemed to run out of different ways to pose men.

Igout III

The model in our third Igout photo seems to be giving a worried look over his shoulder.

Igout

Louis Igout should have called this 1880 item "Woe Is Us."

19th Century, Part 2 - Louis Igout

Part two of our 19th Century set features the work of Louis Igout,
starting with this man who looks like he just slapped somebody.

Workout

Igout photographed this well-built man working out with barbells around 1874.

Leg dangling

The pose here is interesting with a reclining model and dangling legs.

Peekaboo

We get a peekaboo view of some low hangers in this one.

Mystery Action

I don't have a clue as to what our final Igout model is doing, but he looks very good doing it.

This is a "new" photo by Igout that I found in the Galerie au Bonheur collection.

Brick Shit House, Part 1 - Nudes

I recently saw something on another blog that immediately brought the phrase "brick shit house" into my fervid mind.  (You'ls see that one shortly.)  So today we will have the three part series featuring men who are sturdily built, starting with this 19th Century model by Igout.  For the sake of brevity and what little remaining decorum remains, I will use the shorthand BSH in the captions, but the full version in the section headings.

"New" Igout photos from the Metropolitan Museum.

One of the things I've learned as a blogger of vintage photos is to occasionally revisit source websites to see what "new" material may be there.  Well, for whatever reason, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has either added to their collection of Igout male nudes or put more of it on line.  Today I'm posting some of those here on the blog, starting with this interesting, but odd, pose.

Back foot

A certain viewer with a thing for dirty foot bottoms will no doubt like this one.
Or is it actually dirty?  You tell me in the comments.

Leaning

I don't usually lean against a wall with my hands
behind my back, but this guy did for Igout.

Thumbing his nose

OK, I don't know what else to say except that this guy seems to be thumbing his nose.
