J. Wayne Higgs Day III

My third series featuring the work of J. Wayne Higgs is comprised completely of self portraits in a variety of styles and settings.  This is partly because they are interesting, but also because the great majority of his male nudes were of himself.  We begin with one from 1985-86.

Mr. Higgs photographed himself In the Pines in 1966.

 

In My Garden

This one is called In My Garden, and it's my favorite of the day.

 

1979

Over the years, J. Wayne Higgs took a number of self

 portraits with women, and this one is from 1979.

 

Undated

This undated photo looks like it's from the 1980s.

 

Clenched fists

Mr. Higgs has his fists clenched in an item from 1965

which was published in a book.

 

Flandrin Inspired

Although shot at an oblique angle, I'm pretty sure our last 

J. Wayne Higgs photo was inspired by Flandrin.

Today I am posting my second series on the work of J. Wayne Higgs.

We start with a male with staff from 1968.

 

Selfie I

This the first of five self portraits in today's series.  I've put 

them in chronological order, with this one being from 1965.

 

Vatican Statue

Scattered among all the selfies and impressive male nude art photos 

in J. Wayne Higgs' portfolio, one also finds a fair number of pictures

 he made of male nude sculptures.  This one is from the Vatican Museum.
