Kip Behar in The Male Figure

Kip Behar received a relatively expansive spread in a 1957 edition of Bruce Bellas' magazine,

The Male Figure. It was among those sent to me by Tim T., and Kip took up the entire

back section, leaving me thinking Bruce saved the best for last. Thanks, Tim!

Hollywood and Vine

American Airlines is using basically the same logo 66 years later.

Kip's visit to the Chinese Theater may have alluded to his desire to be in the movies.

He did manage some appearances, but not to the extent of contemporary Ed Fury.

Fishy

Is that a fishing float he's holding, or just some generic ball.

Classic

Mr. Behar strikes a classic bodybuilding pose here.

Tuffet

No, it's not that tuffet, but it does serve the purpose.

Ball

We've seen that ball and that behind before.

Inevitable

And here's the inevitable ad promoting sales of Kip's photos.

Bruce took Kip back to high school for this page.'

He wouldn't have gotten me to go back to mine.

Kip Behar's last appearance in the 1957 edition of The Male figure was on the back cover.

The Male Figure, Volume 2 - 1956

The Tim T. Collection - The Male Figure, Volume 2 from 1956

It's time for another full magazine from the wealth of classic era physique magazines sent to me by viewer Tim T. I'm doing another issue of The Male Figure because when I took a close look at this one, I realized that some of the biggest names in modeling from those times were there. You will see Bruce Bellas photos of Bill Melby, Pepper Gomez, Joe Tiffenbach, Bob Poling, Hugh Pendleton, Kim Fox, Dick Spero, Dean Higuchi, Al Kaskey, and perhaps most notably, Edmund Holovchik, better known as Ed Fury. Mr. Fury passed away earlier this year at the age of 94, and I am currently working on a very belated memorial series for him. As is my practice, I am presenting these as they would look in person without captions. Comments are welcome, as always, and I will reply when appropriate.
