The Bill D. Collection - Bad Boys of Physique Photography

Bad Boys, Part 1 - Major Felons

As many of you know, I had been working on a "Bad Boys of Physique Photography" series for some time, but had a setback when my Bad Boys file got corrupted in a computer crash.  Well, I got lucky, and the Physique Pictorial issues that Bill D so generously gave me had more than enough material.  So much, in fact, that it will take three series to put them all on.  We start today with the major felons, and future Bad Boy series will feature petty criminals and ne'er-do-wells.   I am summarizing Bob Mizer's printed overlays, but you should enlarge and read them if you can.  Our first major criminal model is Kyle Troy Tucker, shown bottom left above.  When his benefactor Bernie Barrish told him to get lost after supporting his drug habit for some time, Kyle strangled him with an electrical cord and dumped his body off the Hollywood Freeway.  According to Bob Mizer, everyone but poor Bernie saw this coming.

Kidnapping and Robbery

Smitty Rose looks like a wild man in this shot from Physique Pictorial, and he certainly lived

up to the image.  By the time this edition went to press, Smitty was serving 26 years for

kidnapping and robbing a jeweler and his wife of over $450,000 in jewelry.

Murder, Felony Theft, Grand Theft Auto

Glen LaNel White was a hustler who killed one of his johns when he didn't pay Glen what

he thought he was worth.  He also stole his victim's car and wallet, using the credit cards as

he fled to Texas.  In Texas he took up with a girl who turned him in to police after he

foolishly told her what he done and then got into a nasty argument with her.

Suter and Smith - Multiple Felonies

Bill Smith (giving the spanking) burglarized the AMG studio and then did criminal damage to

property when confronted by the staff.  Jerry Suter (getting a well deserved spanking) robbed

Old Reliable at gunpoint and then went on a crime spree that involved brutalizing the elderly

victims he robbed.  Suter ended up doing 27 years in a Nevada prison.

Attempted Murder . . . Twice

Many of you will no doubt recognize Barry Hoffmann who was known more for his work with Old Reliable than AMG.  Bob Mizer describes in the text overlay how Hoffmann got into a fight with his roommate over a girl and nearly killed him.  And this was after having already served time for attempted murder.  That leaves me wondering if he was one of the many who robbed and/or beat up Old Reliable, a photographer whose skid row models made Mizer's look like upstanding citizens.

Murder, Served 25 years to Life

Danny Roman (at right) murdered the wealthy LA man with whom he was living and

was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.  In a rare instance, Bob Mizer said he didn't see

this one coming, as Danny had shown no propensity toward violence in the past.

Robber and Thug

These two both made the bad boys list at AMG.  Roy Bergen (on top) robbed

Old Reliable twice, but only got jailed the second time.  The other guy, Cee Jay Ermes,

seems to have just been a run of the mill thug.
