Classic

There's something timelessly classic about this photograph of Sandy Campbell and a dog.
Paul Cadmus is said to have taken this picture in 1944, having met Sandy,
a Princeton drama student, at a party the preceding year.

Paul Cadmus

Paul Cadmus was notably shy about being photographed fully nude,
and this is about as close to a frontal shot as one will find.

George Platt Lynes Day

We are overdue for another look at the amazing work of George Platt Lynes.
Above, a self portrait from 1943.  Below, a 1937 drawing by Paul Cadmus.

PaJaMa, Part 2 - Art

Part two of PaJaMa day features art works by the members.
This damaged and undated piece is by Paul Cadmus.

Paul Cadmus II - Margaret Hoening French

I find this Paul Cadmus drawing of his lover's wife,
Margaret Hoening French, to be quite good.

Paul Cadmus III

The hair style makes me think that this Paul Cadmus drawing was made long after PaJaMa
was no more.  I included it anyway because it show his talent for lighting and shading.

Paul Cadmus

Paul Cadmus is best known for his work with PaJaMa in the period of 1935-1955,
but his career extended into the early 1990s.  This is a work from 1965.

Paul Cadmus, the Later Years

When I've mentioned Paul Cadmus lately, it has mainly been in reference to his work with PaJaMa, which was both artistically and socially groundbreaking.  He did, however, have a long and fruitful solo career before, during, and after PaJaMa.  Today we look at his later years from about 1966 to 1987.
The portrait photo is from 1992, and Mr. Cadmus died in 1999 at age 95.

1966

In the first of two successive sleepers, Paul Cadmus even got
the folds and ripples in the bedding right in this 1966 work.

Sleeper

The twists and turns of this sleeping model are beautifully shown in this one.

Looking up

We get an unusual perspective looking  up at this Paul Cadmus model.

Mirror

The model combing his hair before the mirror
is a nice domestic element.

1977

All the information I have on this Paul Cadmus work is the date, 1977.

Detail

The detail work here is exquisite, imho.

Big bucks

This good, but not superlative, drawing by Paul Cadmus fetched $7,000 at auction in 2016.
That was 40% over the presale estimate by the auction house.
