19th Century Photographs


Time for some more 19th Century material, starting with one by Louis Igout.

  2. I find it wonderful that there were photographers who appreciated
    naked males back then. I actually like their works better than our newer photographers, but, of course, I like almost all photographs of naked males!

    1. For me, the difference between then and now is art/cullture vs. crass commercialism/exhibitionism.

    2. I hold the same views. These images are still so inspiring. The new art of photography applied to the tradition of the academic male nude. The model is nude for a particular reason. Certainly no exhibitionism, or the wish to shock. I can tell you, the professional model has no feeling of embarrassment. One is simply nude for art. Indeed, as one models, the sense of being nude fades.
