Jared and the Lighthouse

Jared French is undoubtedly the 20th Century artist photographed nude more than any other.
Most of those pictures, including this one, are attributed to his wife Margaret Hoening.
The setting is Fire Island with the lighthouse in the background.

  1. Ah, my favourite shadow! He had a nice body, doesn't he?

  2. If I had taken a somewhat mundane photo of a nude man on a beach holding the trunk of a plant, it definitely would not end up in the Smithsonian. I understand the historical significance of PaJaMa and a lot of the work is good but I come across a lot of photos by them that I find pedestrian at best. People are willing to overlook a lot if there is a certain name attached to an image. Swop out that name with John or Jane Doe and the photos wouldn't get a second look.

    1. I can see why you might think that. The sheer number of photos in the Smithsonian's PaJaMa collction runs to the hundreds.

  3. There's something very appealing about him, though I can't quite place it; I just wish that I was married to him! ๐Ÿ˜œ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ˜›๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŽ‹๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒพ

    1. Not surpirsed. The man did not have conventional good looks, but he sure had a ton of appeal.

  4. That kind of freedom away from it all must have been magical.

    1. They spent a lot of time in out of the way places and made the most of it.
