Richard Chamberlain passed away at Waimanalo, Hawaii on March 29 of this year. My earliest memory of him was my older sister having a crush on him when he played Dr. Kildare on TV.
Gay, but closeted throughout much of his career, he later described being terrified of being
found out, but then suddenly liberated once he finally took the plunge and came out.
Did any of these guys ever bare it all?
ReplyDeleteNot that I know of, at least not frontal.
DeleteRichard was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBut what about his 'rival' Dr. Ben Casey played by fur hunk Vince Edwards?
I've posted pictures of Vince Edwards, and he went full monty a couple of times.
DeleteChamberlain was great as Anjin-san in the first (and by far the best) "Shogun." He is frequently san chemise in the series.-Dee Exx
ReplyDeleteNo one bats an eye today, but there is still that stigma and the fear of being typecast if you are out. It's funny, in the UK no one cares and those actors play all kinds of roles and are never stigmatized.
ReplyDeleteWhatever they call it, it's a form of discrimination when it happens.
