This my favorite of the day because the very handsome model appears to be just relaxing rather than maintaining a pose. Of course he may be posing, but he's no less charming if so.
It also seems to be the one of the highest technical quality. Considering how old it is, it's remarkably clear. I also like he "pose.". He's pondering what to do with the money he's getting for this session, maybe?
As Lalaing had his models pose in exceptional postures, I would bet that this model, who seems to be at rest, was a pose that the photographer imposed on him. Although the pose looks natural, in my opinion, it is not. The posed right arm gives a certain balance to the photo.
To add to this discussion. Several life model friends have noted, that there is a tendency for us to "pose" all the time. I saw a guy at an exhibition on "Drawn from Life". Noting the way he stood. I commented on this, yes, he's a model. He then commented at the way I was gesticulating as I spoke. Guilty as charged...

ReplyDeleteI see what you mean, Albert.
DeleteI agree. "Natural" poses, that one just falls into, are often tweaked to make them more balanced and aesthetically pleasing to draw.

ReplyDeleteWell, that's understandable for a lot of reasons.
DeleteQuite good. The pose and how natural it is really does stand out. Wonderful model too. Love the comments for this one.
ReplyDeleteI immediately thought of a Ceasar statue. (Tribunal?) [PILOT?]
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense.
