19th Century Muscles

Our Friday night art lesson focuses on some 19th Century paintings that show a good
grasp of the anatomy of male muscles.  This one from 1815, like most of
today's offerings, is by an unknown artist.

  1. A classic pose, that I have done many times..tension and it shows off the shoulder and arm musculature to perfection.

  2. An artist friend of mine, when I volunteered (in my better, younger days) to pose for his classes, told me artists prefer painting / drawing female nudes because the multitude of curves lend more interest and contrast. Somehow, that rings hollow for me.
