I'm surprised that Russ Warner didn't stage this photo to
exclude the power lines, but it's still impressive.
LaLanne has always been homophobic and vehemently denied ever posing for nudes, even though the pix are now available for all to see. Russ Warner did many frontal nudes, all of which were retouched when sent through the mails. Why LaLanne ever agreed to pose nude in the first place is something of a mystery, in view of his later behavior.
He may have needed the money before he landed a spot on TV. The widely held story is that he posed for other photographer in addition to Mr. Warner. When the TV deal was being negotiated, Lalanne went around to them all and demanded the prints and negatives of all his nudes. Russ Warner refused.
Beautiful pose. Interesting to see Jack Lalanne's foreskin in not rolled back in this shot..
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite shot, with Lalane's foreskin showing so prominently.
ReplyDeleteAgain juxtaposed with light hair/skin versus dark, cut versus uncut, taller versus shorter... two perfect specimens but very different.
