Bob Delmonteque's status as a top bodybuilder resulted in his appearance on a number of "legitimate" magazine covers. This is my personal favorite, and it's a rare color shot from his heyday.
A number of men posed in similar ways for magazine covers in the 1940's and early 50's. Seems like it was OK as long as no frontal showed and the derriere was in profile. Earlier, Charles Atlas published some full on derriere photos in magazines, but I've never, ever seen a frontal shot of him. Too bad, that.
A great cover. Way ahead of its time. Imagine putting a nude man on the cover of a body-building magazine now...
