1940-ish Physique Models
Both of today's series will focus on the period around 1940, starting with some
pioneer physique photos. This Lon of New York photo of Mr. America of 1942,
Frank Leight, is the only photo in this group for which I have a model's name.
It may have been the fact that material was already effectively being rationed by clothing companies converting their manufacturing lines to military garb after the USA entered WWII, but please note the high rise and lower waisted tan-line of Mr Leight's trunks, which are more or less half the size of what was considered acceptable a decade later.
