Playgirl quickly became know for its sumptuous photo settings,
and this shot of Don Stroud is a good early example.
I first became aware of Don from a film called Games that he did with Simone Signoret and James Caan in 1967. Don and James together made the viewing much better! I remember when the issue came out in 1973 and as I recall I was VERY excited by it. It was three weeks before my 18th birthday ... Thank You Don!
(Editing what I originally posted above) Although this was the 6th issue of Playgirl (Nov 1973), it was the first one to show a fully unobstructed genital shot of the man of the month--spread legs, even! Thank you, Don, for being a groundbreaker! Some of the next few were "shy" & covered up, but by April 1974, every one gives us the Full Monty until the horrible no-nude period in 1987
