Vanishing posing strap

This photo of Bill Pask with a pot appears to be a good example of a way Lon and other physique photographers tried to thwart the censors.  Posing straps were actually drawn on the photos with erasable ink or pencil that knowing customers knew they could remove.  In this case the eager customer apparently didn't bother to erase the side straps of the imaginary costume.

  1. It must have been quite a chore to draw in all those straps. If 100 orders came in, who had to do the drawing?

    1. Good question. One of Lon's models, Frank Giardina, lived with him for a while and supposedly learned the business, so he might have helped.
