I've often wondered if that particular generation of young men had far fewer qualms about stripping off in public - and for the camera - given that so many of us used to swim naked. All behaviours are learnt, and I do wonder at times why the present generation of younger men is quite so coy.
I think part of the change has been parents fearful of sexual abuse who teach their kids of both sexes not to be seen nude. At least, I've seen that put forward as a reason, with some people adding that the proliferation of porn has tainted all nudity.
Ironic that a lot of the parents who started to sue so little Jimmy did not be seen naked by his classmates were the hippie-free love-Woodstock generation.
I can still remember at 10 being in the bathhouse at the beach and my father practically ordering me to strip naked so I could shower, large gang shower setup.
Oh and another factor that supposedly contributed to it is today’s houses. Back in the 1920’s or so when centralized schools started for many students who lived in rural areas the only time they really got to bath was after gym cause there was no indoor plumbing.
These days houses are built one bath per bedroom or with jack-and-Jill setups. They don’t even need to be seen nude at home!
I don't know what got into my generation when came to boys and nudity. Probably all the publicity about sexual abuse, which although it was and is a real problem, had next to nothing to do with gang showers.
Great series, again, Jerry. This guy certainly falls into the lithe/lanky category when nude. Fully clothed he'd still be very handsome, but probably not lanky.
Nice bush and low hangers...hairy arms and legs...He might not be lanky but he's a looker!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like a character from the TV series "Mad Men" without his suit.
DeleteNo complaints here.
ReplyDeleteNo surprise here, lol.
