Viking
John Borjesson created Captive Viking in 1878,
and I believe it can be found in a park in Stockholm.
Yes, it's in Södra Djurgården, not far from the Biological Museum, in a part of Stockholm now known as Evenemangsparken, the "Events Park" and is located on an island. I always thought he looked like a rock guitarist - but there's nothing new under the sun.

Whatever one's feelings about "the neighbors," we all have to admire the way the Finns have managed to keep their freedom and independence. I am fond of Swedish culture and can actually understand quite a bit of spoken Swedish because I've watched so many subtitled Ingmar Bergman films that I know what a lot of the words mean. I can also understand some of your Norwegian comments without using Google Translator. It's no secret that the languages are distinct, but still similar.

ReplyDeleteMy Finnish friends have mixed feelings about the Swedes. They all drive Volvo cars and complain about all the influence the Swedes have in the region.
