Stuttgart
This 1922 photo of a lifting exercise was made by Richard Ungewitter in Stuttgart.
Herr Ungewitter war ein FKK-Pionier, seine Bucher waren bekkant. In den 1920er Jahren war Stuttgart wie heute ein bedeutendes deutsches Turn- und Schwimmzentrum. Produzieren von Mannern mit feinem Korperbau. -austriche
I really enjoy seeing vintage photos of naked men, and knowing that such photos existed. It would be interesting to know if these were published where the public had access to them. Presently, I have this quest to find old photos showing that public male nudity was fairly common in the Northern European countries back in the early 1900s.

To answer your question, I would say that more than a few of such photos were either published or exhibited. Most, however, did not show full frontal nudity when published, although some did.

ReplyDeleteMaybe Russ Warner was inspired by this photo or one like it to pose the two Jacks that way. The Lalanne-Thomas photo shoot is legendary.
