Frederick Prokosch might have been included in the celebrities section of today's series had his fame as an author extended beyond the 1930s. As it turned out, he is barely remembered, despite having been admired in his day by Thomas Mann, Sinclair Lewis, Thornton Wilder, Albert Camus, and Somerset Maugham, among others. It is worth noting that Mann and Maugham also posed for G.P. Lynes, although certainly not in their underwear as Mr. Prokosch did. Neither was as good looking.
