Let me be the first to say that if this is a military medical exam, it is the oddest I've seen. There are only two uniformed men present, and they might be French police instead of army. The guy at the front of the "recruit" line seems to be holding a sword and scabbard, while further back we have a fellow with a shoulder bag. And everyone seems to be amused by the whole thing.
The faces and necks are very dirty while the bodies are very white as they do not get too much sunshine, except the one with the shoulder bag who looks tanned. Maybe coal miners after working a shift down the mine? Or rescued after an accident?
