This little snippet was on a resale website where they intentionally use crappy scans to force people to buy the antique prints they sell. I suppose they think buyers would download good scans and skip the purchase, but a serious collector wouldn't even think of it. What is that on his shoulder?
I assume, here, that they want to imply a paving stone? But at that angle it wouldn't be possible. Probably wood? Ideally, any prop is the real thing to give the right weight. But, obviously, it is not possible to carry the full weight for the pose length. So something of a lesser weight is usually used to give the right muscle tension.
ReplyDeleteWhat you say makes a lot of sense, David. Thanks!
DeletePleasure. However, this varies. I often use a baseball sized ball to create interest in a pose. At first, I used a light one. Quite tricky to keep still. I now used a heavy solid rubber one, about 10oz. Much better, as it causes my hand and forearm muscles to tense in response.
DeleteI have another photo of the wooden object being used to block the model's face. It may be a riser the model could stand on.
ReplyDeleteI believe I may have posted the one with the blocked face. A riser makes sense.
