The tan lines are right on the money for 1945. José Martínez was a man of style. Between 1945 and 1950, men's swimwear became briefer, with a higher cut leg, often known as "racers". They would resurface in the early 1960s when men remembered that they were living in the 20th century.
Nice image of Martinez and his tan lines. Right after the war 45/46 people were pretty liberal and non-conformist in their attitudes (war and deprivation will do that), then a few years later 50/51 increasingly conservative and conformist. (keeping up with the Jones's does that) The public pendulum constantly swings back and forth :)
