Wilhelm von Pluschow was senior member of a triad of photographers who featured nude young Italian men in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. He was the cousin of one, von Gloeden, and the other, Galdi, was one of his models and a protege. (They were also rumored to be lovers.) Most of von Pluschow's work can safely be dated to the late 19th C. because he was jailed for corrupting minors around 1900 and returned to Germany not long after that. The photo above has recently come to light and is said be actually be him after an apparently fake one circulated for decades.
