1949 and near the end

This American Weekly cover from 1949 is the latest published work by J.C. Leyendecker that I could find.  As is so typical of his art, the male is resolutely detached from the female.  Mr. Leyendecker passed away from a heart attack in his the arms of Charles Beach in 1951.  They were never able to publicly celebrate their love of 50 years.  Be thankful for our our right to do so now, but don't take it for granted..  In the current political environment, vigilance and militance are a necessity.

  2. Well said, Jerry. Of late I look with increasing unease at what appears to be a rise in fascism worldwide. Indeed, gay rights appear to be on far less 'steady ground' than they seemed to be.

    1. The most disturbing part is that some of these fascists are winning fair elections.
